Completing the square

I find the square format to be a refreshing break from the comfortable 2:3 ratios we are used to. There is something slightly unsettling about the symmetry of a square photograph.

For this project I will be shooting and compiling squares. First 1, then 4, then 9 and so on. I will be both examining composition and color within a square, and compositions of square photographs as they compete for space in the context of a larger square.
