I saw this video for the sparklehorse song Little Fat Baby a few weeks ago and since then I have had the song stuck in my head. I know it’s pretty cliche to get really into a band after the artist commits suicide, but I really like this stuff. The video is shitty quality, but its really great too.
I have been seeing these videos around lately and there is kind of a curious story behind them. From what I can gather there is an anonymous youtube page which keeps posting these really well shot, sometimes quite eerie videos, featuring an as of yet unidentified artist. Most of them are named with a long number code which doesn’t seem to mean anything, but this one that got posted a few hours ago is just titled “b”. Have to say that a lot of time and energy looks to have been spent on the project, and I think some of the videos are pretty damn cool. I love the end of this one with the loop of the cat. A small loop, but really very creepy.

I started my first batch of beer last night with a recently acquired home brew set-up. It took about 3 hours start to finish, and the end product one month from now, will be 5 gallons of chocolate porter. It came from a basic starter recipe the guy at the brew shop recommended to me. Here’s the rundown of the process in the manner to which my organic chemistry class has made me accustomed.

Several years ago, on a hot humid summer day in Portland OR, me and a friend were at a grocery store, and the dry ice freezer caught my eye. Kind of an impulse buy, I have to admit, I asked the cashier for a pound. They wrapped it up in paper and sent me on my way. Once we got home we unwrapped it, and for a while we were not quite sure what we were going to do with it. As the dry ice sublimated I noticed that it would sink, and kind of hover along the table top. This got me wondering.
This bit of work from Tatiana Plakhova, I find quite amazing, not just forms and compositions, but the colors are really great. They seem very biological/scientific. See the rest here.
