We've never managed to take an accurate abv reading as we either forget to take a reading when we first brew, forget a hydrometer, or, in most cases, don't know the number (0.125) by which to multiply after subtraction. As always, it's the math that ruins my fun. I've never been wild about any of the results. I'd like to think that we're doing something wrong, but it might be that a home brew kit is the equivalent to a box of Duncan Hines as opposed to made from scratch cupcakes.
